Our Own Quest

A Look Back at How We Started

At The National Treasure Quest (TheNTQ), we believe that life is an adventure waiting to be explored. That's why we started in 2020, during a time when the world was turned upside down and social distancing became the norm. With more people heading outdoors than ever before, we saw an opportunity to inspire and empower adventurers to embark on a journey of discovery.

We were inspired by the story of Forrest Fenn, a Santa Fe merchant who hid a treasure chest filled with precious gems and antiques in an outdoor location after facing his own mortality. He created a public search for the chest, providing only a poem describing its location. For a decade, thousands of outdoor enthusiasts became treasure hunters, exploring the great outdoors in search of the chest.

Our Goal

"To encourage and inspire the exploration, education, and conservation of the outdoors within our communities, within our nation with an interactive outdoor experience."

When the chest was finally found in 2020, only one person was the big winner, leaving thousands of disappointed treasure hunters. TheNTQ is here to continue the legacy of Forrest Fenn, inspiring and encouraging adventurers to explore the great outdoors and embark on their own treasure hunts.

So join us on The National Treasure Quest, and let's explore the great outdoors together.

Happy hunting!
