FAQS

We answered some frequently asked questions here.

What factors determine the value and location of the medallion?

The number and worth of the locations will be proportional to the number of individuals searching in a state. Although the chances of success increase with fewer searchers, the value of future quests will be higher with more participants. We aim to increase the reward for a successful search to $1,000,000 in any location. The prize for finishing an NTQ Quest ranges from $1,000* up to $10,000.

*Any state that starts at $1,000 will be increased by $1,000 for every 100 additional registrants (101 = $2,000, 201 = $3,000, etc.).

What does the $30 registration fee entitle me to?

Upon registering as a searcher in a state, you will receive the current set of clues for that state. The registration fee of $30 is charged per state and active quest in that state. After discovering the medallion in the state, you must re-register and pay the fee for the subsequent quest in that state. If you register after an active quest has commenced, you will receive all the clues issued up to that point. All searchers in a registered state will be on an equal footing.

Will the clues lead you to the medallion?

The clues are designed to reduce the search area progressively until it becomes a linear quest or lead you to the approximate location.

How often will clues be provided?

Registered searchers will receive regular clue updates to provide all the clues per quest within one year. If the medallion remains undiscovered after all clues have been issued, additional clues will be promptly provided. The aim is to conclude an active quest within a year of its launch.

Do you need all the clues to solve the quest?

After all the clues have been issued, the location of the medallion will be pinpointed. However, it is possible to discover the hiding spot of the medallion as the clues progressively narrow down the search area.

How many total clues will there be?

The number of clues will differ depending on the state. For instance, Kansas has the most clues for the currently active quest, with 18 clues, while Louisiana has the least, with only 7 clues.

What tools will I need?

The medallion will be hidden. During your search, avoid digging, damaging, or altering anything. To ensure your safety while in the field, you may find it helpful to bring tools such as gloves, a hiking stick, a backpack, a metal detector, a compass, a phone compass, and/or a GPS satellite device (typically includes an SOS button). This list serves as a guide and does not restrict other items you may wish to bring for your protection, comfort, and well-being.

What happens if I join a quest, and later the medallion is found by a fellow searcher?

If you register for a quest and the medallion is discovered within 30 days, a full refund will be issued.

What tips can you offer for a successful quest?

  1. As the medallions are hidden, it's best to bring a hiking stick or locate one and check for snakes or other creatures before reaching inside holes or beneath rocks. You can also wear gloves.

  2. To ensure a safe search experience, keep the following points in mind:

  3. Familiarize yourself with the terrain of the search location and dress accordingly.

  4. Check the weather forecast and dress appropriately.

  5. Plan for your nutritional requirements and bring extra supplies to cover your time in the field.

  6. Stay hydrated and carry plenty of water.

  7. Inform someone of your whereabouts and expected return time.

Can you provide any general clues?

  • Before your search, get acquainted with the area where you think the medallion may be hidden.

  • Take note of any distinctive characteristics, landmarks, or peculiarities within your search region. These could serve as clues as the search area is narrowed down.

  • Every hiding spot features a rock placed over or in front of the waterproof container that houses the medallion. The rock is neither bulky nor heavy and can be easily lifted with an adult's hand.

How do I verify my successful search upon finding the medallion?

Instructions for verifying your search will be included with the medallion when it is found. We can disclose that you must report your latitude and longitude.
